About coaching
Life coaching is a partnership where individuals work with an accredited coach towards meeting their full potential.
Usually conducted over several sessions, coaches and clients will spend time addressing a set of stated personal goals through a process of discussion, reflection, action planning and accountability.
Topics can include anything from work productivity to household organisation to personal relationships, and can include the biggest life decisions or the smallest daily niggles.
Sessions are usually an hour long, but there can be flexibility according to a client’s needs and preferred style.
As a coach, I believe that all clients, no matter how stuck they might feel, are able to find creative solutions using their own strengths. The pathway to your goals lies within you already – you just might need some assistance to piece the steps together.
Although ADHD can present many challenges and setbacks in life, there can also be many benefits that just need to be channelled in a productive way.
The two ‘D’s in ADHD - Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder - hold very negative associations and can leave us feeling defeated. For me, a ‘deficit’ only exists where the environment is not a good fit, and a ‘disorder’ only occurs where day-to-day functioning is a problem. Both of these can be overcome with good coaching – the possibilities are limitless.
What do you need to bring to coaching? Just a desire to move forward, a genuine curiosity about yourself and your life, and the motivation and openness to make changes where you see possibilities.
What’s the process?
After you get in touch I will email you so we can set up a free 20-minute video consultation call. You are under no obligation to sign up to coaching – this is for me to learn a little bit about you and for you to hear how my coaching might benefit you. It will be a chance for you to ask any questions and see if coaching is the right fit for you.
If you decide to go ahead with coaching, we will book a 90-minute planning session. In that session, we will explore strengths, identify challenges, and set goals. From there we can develop a plan for coaching together.
After the planning session will be a series of 60-minute coaching sessions. The number of these will depend on which package is right for you. The content of these sessions will be bespoke according to your goals and will include regular review to keep us on track.
Outdoor coaching
There is good evidence for the benefits of being in nature and moving our bodies more, and especially so for people with ADHD. Keeping moving and connecting with nature can help us regulate and allow us to access a different level and breadth of thought than if we are sitting still in front of a computer screen.
Walking alongside your coach, rather than sitting face-to-face and being aware of your own image on screen, can also make for a more natural and free-flowing social interaction.
I can offer in-person coaching in and around Inverness. We can meet somewhere well known, such as the Ness Islands, Daviot Wood, or Rosemarkie beach, and have a walk and talk coaching session. If you are interested, please get in touch to find out more.
Group coaching
Group coaching follows the same model as individual coaching, in that it is focused on partnering with clients to uncover personal strengths to help them move towards their goals. The only difference is you are participating with other clients and therefore part of a slightly larger partnership.
Group coaching can be an effective way of obtaining the life coaching expertise you want whilst also connecting with people who are having similar experiences. It is also more economical, as the cost of sessions can be divided between all members of the group.
